Health Ministry to hold dialogue with junior doctors over workplace bullying.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry will organise closed-door dialogue sessions with junior doctors and housemen to discuss their workplace concerns.

Health Minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said the sessions will be held with the Graduate Training Committee (Jawatankuasa Latihan Siswazah) in stages nationwide.

“Although we have channels for them to lodge their complaints, I understand that many junior doctors and housemen fear stepping forward because they are afraid of being victimised.

“We will host dialogues with them – the director-general, his deputy or I myself will attend if need be, because we need to get to the bottom of this,” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby on Monday.

Dr Dzulkefly was commenting on the findings of a study showing that nearly 80% of junior doctors in Malaysia said they have experienced bullying at the workplace, with some of them saying they had even contemplated suicide.
